1969 Pentti Sarpaneva for Riihimaki blue glass vase with bronze surround

We have not had a piece of glass by the Finnish designer Pentti Sarpaneva for a very long time so we were especially pleased to find this one. The colour grades from a vibrant blue at the top to very pale blue at the base and a clear glass square foot. The pressed glass vase has a square base supporting a square tower that is decorated with spheres and demi-spheres. The top has an open work bronze collar. It has its original Riihimaki label and the base is signed "Pentti Sarpaneva Oy Kumela '69".
